Why oh why is it so rare to see an intelligent woman talking about beer? There were obviously plenty of women at the festival — Blonde Women on Film Galore — yet no one who made this video talked to one — or any women. Sexism!
Hi Kate
To be fair, all the men featured in this 2009 video are BC brewers (we also didn’t use 49 of the 54 male brewers either ;o) So far as I know, there are only two female brewers in BC, Claire Connolly of Turning Point Brewery (Stanley Park) and Rebecca Kneen of Crannog (Sorrento) … alas, neither was at the festival last year although we hope to see both in 2011. Rebecca is a good friend and has been there every other year. CAMRA Vancouver president Lundy Dale (a woman) produced a very successful event for 2010 Vancouver Cask Beer Week called “Women in Beer” that sold out and will be a part of VCBW next year.
We’re not sexist. We’ll let the derogatory comment about blondes slide, shall we … ;o)
Kate, we’d love to have you talk about good beer on camera, give us a call.
Phil
